In Sanskrit there are the terms "Shreya" and "Preya". Shreya Marga means the path of good, of better. Preya Marga, on the other hand, means the path of pleasantness, of pleasure.
Whenever you have to make a decision, ask yourself which decision is "Shreya" and which is "Preya". So which decision will lead to immediate gratification and which decision will be good for me in the long run?
We often choose "Preya", i.e. immediate reward, because it can be achieved with little effort, but in the long run this decision often harms us. The decision which initially requires greater effort, commitment and discipline, brings us health, success, etc. in the long run.
So if you want to pull the covers over your head in the morning and think to yourself, should I really get up earlier to meditate or should I sleep a little longer, then you will notice that you skipped the morning meditation as your mind becomes restless throughout the day. How you start the day determines the energy for the rest of the day.
If you use these two tools of discrimination "Shreya and Preya" for your decisions in life, you will notice how your mind and also your life are transformed.
